ＳＣＡＮＤＡＬ Rina!

Suzuki Rina (鈴木理菜) dikenal dengan nama Rina, Rinax. Lahir di prefektur Nara, 21 Agustus 1991. Golongan darah B, tinggi badan 150 cm. Rina berperan sebagai drummer. Rina juga bisa memainkan piano.

Suzuki Rina (鈴木理菜) known as Rina, Rinax. Born in Nara prefecture, August 21^st 1991. Blood type B, height 160 cm. Rina stands as drummer. She could also play piano.

  
Rina yang berpenampilan elegan dan cantik seperti model ini mungkin bisa menipu banyak laki-laki. Tak ada yang menyangka bahwa di balik tampilan femininnya yang seperti model ini tersimpan bakat dan kemampuannya sebagai drummer yang mumpuni. Meskipun tidak terlalu mengandalkan power, tapi fill-in yang dia mainkan sangatlah variatif. Dengan struktur lagu-lagu Scandal yang semakin beragam, dan peningkatan beat yang ditunjukkannya memperlihatkan kehandalan Rina dalam memainkan drum. Terutama dalam permainan beat dan fill-in-nya yang atraktif. Rina tidak menggunakan dobel bas pedal untuk memainkan beat-beat yang cepat atau memainkan fill-in pedal yang rapat seperti kebanyakan drummer, tapi dia hanya memakai single pedal. Untuk memainkan fill-in pedal, Rina memadukan pedal dengan tom atau floor tom sehingga terdengar seperti dobel pedal(contohnya pada lagu Hi-Hi-Hi).Atau permainan stik-nya di bagian pinggir snare (di lagu Maboroshi Night). Permainan Rina yang atraktif inilah yang menjadikannya drummer yang berkelas.

Rina with her elegant and beautiful looks like a model, could deceive many men. No one will expect that beyond her feminine model looks, there’s a talent and capability of her as a excellent drummer. Though she didn’t rely on the power, but her fill-in is very varied. With various structure of Scandal’s songs, and beat improvement she had, shows her reliability in playing drums. Especially on her beat play and attractive fill-in. Rina didn’t use double bass pedal to play fast up-beat songs or to play tight pedal fill-in like common drummers. She only use single pedal. To play pedal fill-in, she combine the pedal with tom or floor tom, so it would sound like a double bass pedal (for example, on Hi-Hi-Hi). Or her side stick play (on Maboroshi Night).She became a classy drummer due to her attractive play.

Kemampuan Rina memainkan beat yang cepat inilah (seperti pada lagu Shunkan Sentimental, Love Survive, Appletachi No Dengon, Hoshi No Furu Yoru Ni dll), yang menjadikannya pilar utama Scandal dalam menanamkan citra sebagai band rock. Kemampuannya sebagai penulis lagu juga dapat dilihat di lagu Kimi To Yoru To Namida, Tokyo Skyscrapper, Burn, Very Special, One Piece, Emotion, dll.

Her capability to play fast up-beat songs (such as on Shunkan Sentimental, Love Survive, Appletachi No Dengon, Hoshi No Furu Yoru Ni etc. )are responsible to made her Scandal’s main pillar for their rock band images. Yamaha Electric Drums

Ketika pertama kali belajar drum, di sekolahannya tidak ada drum biasa, yang ada hanya drum elektrik. Ia berlatih memainkannya di rumah melalui townpage*.

Yamaha Rock’n Road Series Drum set (Black)

Digunakan di era Shiroten. Settingnya memakai dua tom. Untuk show di luar negeri pada Maret 2008 pun, Rina memakai drum Yamaha.

This drum used on Shiroten days. The drum settings use two tom. For the abroad live performance on March 2008, Rina also use Yamaha drums.

Pearl Masterworks Drum Set (Metallic Red)

Rina selalu menyukai drum set yang dibuat oleh Pearl. Setelah beberapa lama, barulah Rina diendorse dan dibuatkan drum oleh Pearl.

Rina like the drum set that made by Pearl. Afterward, Rina was endorsed by Pearl and a drum set were made for her.

Negi Drums Acrylic Snare (Purple Skeleton)(Special Order?)

Snare headnya Remo coated Ambassador (14”). Digunakan sejak awal November 2008. Awalnya ia ingin menjadi drummer bertenaga, karena itu ia memakai snare DW yang berbody dalam. Ia kemudian menerima saran dari pemilik toko alat musik agar mencari soundnya sendiri yang ia sukai. Sebagai hasilnya, ia lalu memilih menggunakan snare yang terbungkus akrilik. Drummer yang ia ketahui pertama kali menggunakan acrylic shell adalah Keith Moon. Inilah yang membuatnya mendengarkan The Who. Rina memuja Keith Moon dan menganggapnya sebagai dewa.(nama panggilannya : Raito-kun)

The snare head is Remo coated Ambassador (14”). Used since early November 2008. Initially, she wants to become a power drummer, so she use DW’s depth body snare. But then she took some music store owner advice, to search for her own sound that she likes. As a result, she chose to use acrylic shell snare. As far as she knows, the first drummer who used acrylic shell is Keith Moon. That’s what made her listen to The Who. Rina worship him and considered him as a god.(nick name: Raito-kun)

Pearl P-120P (drum pedal)

Snare dan pedal adalah barang miliknya yang pribadi. Rina memasukkan keduanya ke dalam hardcase favorit miliknya dan membawanya kemanapun ia pergi.

Snare and pedal are her private belongings. Rina put them both in her favorite hardcase, and take them anywhere.

TAMA Oak Stick O214-P (drum stick) 

Rina menyukai stik drum yang terbuat dari kayu oak dan berukuran 14mmx406mm ini.

P-tip (P=Popular)-nya berbentuk teardrop yang panjang dan tipis.

T: Bagaimana cara kamu memilih stik? Apa dilihat dari beratnya? Atau dari bahannya?

J: Yang pertama kali kulihat adalah bentuk ujung stiknya. Aku suka TAMA Oak O214-P♪. Dalam satu set stik biasanya ada sedikit perbedaan berat. Yang lebih berat biasanya diberi tanda. Inilah yang biasanya lebih bagus bila dimainkan pada ujung snare.Detilnya disini

Rina likes these drum stick that made from oak wood and 14mmx406mm in size. The P-tip (P=Popular) had a long & narrow shape like teardrop.

Q: How do you choose drum stick? Is it from its weight? Or from the material?

A: First thing I saw is the shape of its tip. I love TAMA Oak O214-P♪. In each set of drum stick there’s a lil’ bit differences on its weight. The heavier ones usually marked. This is the one that usually more better if it’s played on snare side. For further details, here.

Behringer XENYX 502 (Analog Mixer)

Mixer ini digunakan sebagai ear monitor. Rina menganggapnya alat yang luarbiasa. Mixer ini diletakkan di sideboard di sebelah drum.

This mixer is used as an ear monitor. Rina think it’s a superb equipment. The mixer is placed on the sideboard next to the drum.

Pearl Masters Series Premium Maple Drum Set (Pink +Rainbow Lame)

Sebelum tur pada Maret 2010, dia ingin memiliki set drum yang diinginkannya dan ia set sendiri. Ia sudah memikirkan berbagai macam cat yang ia inginkan untuk drumnya. Hasilnya, cat dasarnya yang berwarna pink dilapisi dengan taburan warna pelangi. Ia juga memperbesar ukuran bass drumnya menjadi berukuran 24”x18” agar menghasilkan suara bass yang lebih baik. Ia juga meletakkan logo band di head bass drumnya. Bisa dikatakan full spek dari drum set inilah yang menjadikannya ciri khas band. (nama panggilan: Angelina, Angie)

Before the tour on March 2010 begins, she wants to customize her own desirable drum set. She already think about her desirable painting. As the result, the basic pink color coated with the rainbow color. She also made the bass drum bigger to 24”x18” size, so it could produce more better bass sound. Rina also put the band logo’s on the bass drum’s head. Frankly speaking, the full specification of this drum set is the band’s trademark. (nick name: Angelina, Angie)

Negi Drums Acrylic Snare with pattern markings (special order?)

Nama panggilan: Chris-chan. Juni 2010, Rina mengganti snare drum utamanya dari Raito-kun ke Chris-chan. Dibanding Raito-kun, Chris-chan bodynya lebih tipis dan frekuensi rendahnya lebih menyebar. Jika diibaratkan, Raito-kun adalah cowoknya, dan Chris-chan adalah ceweknya.

Nick name: Chris-chan. Juni 2010, Rina change her main snare drum from Raito-kun to Chris-chan. Compared to Raito-kun, Chris-chan has a thinner body and its low frequencies spread more. If Raito-kun is the man, then Chris-chan is the woman.

Juni 2010, Rina menambahkan splash cymbal. Sound dari simbal inilah yang diinginkannya ketika memainkan lagu ‘Switch’.

On June 2010, Rina add splash cymbal. This cymbal produced desirable sound that she wants while playing ‘Switch’ song.

Pearl Masters Premium Series Maple Snare MMP1455SE/C(Red Lame)

Digunakan sejak tour September 2010. Inilah snare drum yang berukuran 14”x5.5” dengan maple shell . Harganya 59.850 yen. Snare maple ini bahannya sama dengan Angie. Soundnya pun telah akrab di telinga band. Januari 2011, Rina pun dipilih sebagai model iklan dari snare drum ini .(nick name: Cherry)

It used since September 2010 tour. This is a drum snare sized 14”x5.5” with maple shell. It cost 59.850 yen. It has the same materials with Angie. The band already familiar with its sound. January 2011, Rina was chosen as the model for this drum snare ad. (nick name: Cherry)

Cowbell

Cowbell ini diperkenalkan saat tur September 2010. Rina tak ingin menambah lagi aksesoris setelah cowbell ini. Jika semakin banyak lagi instrument baru yang dipakai, maka tensinya pun akan semakin meningkat.

The cowbell was introduced on September 2010 tour. Rina didn’t want to add more accessories after this cowbell. IF it’s getting more & more instrument used, the tension will also risen.

Pearl SensiTone Series Brass Snare STB1455 (Brassy Yellow)

Desember2010, Rina mendapatkan snare brass. SensiTone Series STB1455 yang sudah tidak diproduksi lagi. Natural Brass Shell 14”x5.5”. “Apaan nih!?Menyenangkan sekali rasanya!Sejak pertama kali mencoba memainkannya, aku langsung sukaa!!!!”. Itulah komentar Rina begitu menyadari tone yang dihasilkan oleh snare berbahan logam ini. Nama panggilan: Mr. Mee. “Tapi, nama aslinya kepanjangan, akan lebih bagus jika panggilan namanya Senseii!!yaa!!”, katanya. Mungkinkah Rina memperolehnya dari guru drumnya?^^

*Di acara amal pada September 2011 yang diadakan untuk rekonstruksi daerah Tohoku yang terkena bencana gempa, STB1455 dan beberapa barang lainnya yg sudah tidak diproduksi lagi dijual oleh Ikebe Instrument. Snare ini dijual sebagai ‘snare rekonstruksi’. Harganya 17.800 yen (termasuk pajak).

On December 2010, Rina obtain a brass snare. A discontinued product of SensiTone Series STB1455. Natural Brass Shell 14”x5.5”. “What’s this!?Feels good! From the first time I try to play it, I immediately love this snare!!”. It’s her comment when she realized the tone created by this metal snare. Nick name: Mr. Mee. “The real name were too long, it would be better if I called it Sensei!Yess!!, she said. Could it be she have it from her drum teacher?^^

On a charity held on September 2011 for reconstruction of Tohoku district that destroyed by the  earthquake, STB1455 and few other discontinued product were sold as a “reconstruction snare”. It was sold at 17.800 yen.

Pearl Masterworks Series Snare (Blue Maple)(nick name: Blue-chan)

April 2011, Ketika Cherry sedang diperbaiki, datanglah snare yang baru. Snare ini berpelat logo Masterworks Series. Bahannya memang tidak jelas terbuat dari apa, tapi Rina sepertinya mencoba untuk memakai snare yang bodynya lebih dalam dari biasanya. “Warna biru bukan sesuatu yang baru,kan?”katanya. Meski ia berkata begitu, tapi maple dengan warna biru yang menyegarkan itu sepertinya menarik hatinya. Nama panggilan : Blue-chan.


April 2011,When Cherry were in maintenance, then came her new snare. This snare has a Masterworks Series plate. The materials were unknown but it seems that Rina try to use snare with the body depth more than usual. "Blue wasn't something new,right?". Though she said so, but that refreshing blue maple seems to attract her attention. Nick name: Blue-Chan.

April 2011, Rina menambahkan lagi snare brass  14”x5”.

~Snare yang disetel dengan tuningan tinggi ini kayaknya bagus jika dipakai untuk lagu-lagu Scandal yang upbeat. Terlepas dari tampilannya, bodynya sepertinya berat. Harganya 95.550 yen. 

April 2011, Rina add more 14"x5" brass snare. This higher tuning snare seems to fit for the upbeat Scandal songs. Regardless of looks, the body seems quite heavy. Retail price 95.550 yen.

Pearl Rina Model 171A (Original Drum Stick)

Pada Oktober 2011, akhirnya keluar juga Pearl Drum Sticks Artist Models “Limited”Series model Rina. Sama seperti stik TAMA kesayangannya, stik ini juga terbuat dari kayu oak, 14mmx60mm. Harganya 1365 yen. Agar bisa dipakai cewek ataupun cowok, stik ini sengaja didesain sporty. Tulisan ‘Scandal Rina’nya pun dibuat mirip dengan tulisan logo ‘Pearl’.  Stick ini adalah model signature dari anggota Scandal yang pertama kali dipasarkan. Stik yang dijual secara terbatas ini cukup populer.  Penjualannya di internet boleh dikatakan sold out . Inipun terus berlanjut selama satu bulan lebih dengan pemesanan terlebih dahulu.

On October 2011, at last the Pearl Drum Sticks Artist Models “Limited”Series Rina models issued. Same with her own favorit TAMA stick, this also made from oak, 14mmx60mm. The price is 1365 yen. This stick was designed with sporty looks, so it could be used by either gents or ladies drummer. The 'Scandal Rina' writings were made to be same as the 'Pearl' logo writings.  The stick was the first Scandal member signature model to be sold. This limited goods gain its popularity. In internet, the stick were sold out. It continues until one more months, but you have to order it first.

Few things about Rina:

#Tahun 2006, pada bulan kedua setelah Rina masuk ke sekolah vokal & tari, ia mulai belajar drum setelah disarankan oleh gurunya. Sejak umur tiga tahun, dia telah masuk sekolah karena ingin masuk ke dunia showbiz. Ia merasa lemah dalam menari, karena itulah ia segera termotivasi oleh saran gurunya tersebut. Ia sudah punya stik drum karena itulah ia memilih drum dan ingin segera belajar memainkan lagu. Drum sudah dianggap sebagai imagenya cowok. Oleh karena itu ia berpikir jika seorang cewek yang memainkannya pasti akan terlihat sangat keren.

On 2006, in a second month she attend the vocal&dance school, she began to learn how to play drum after her teacher suggest her to. Since three years old, she already went to school cause she wants to enter the showbiz world. She felt hear weak point on dancing, so when her teacher suggest her to play drums, suddenly she’s motivated. She already had drum stick, that’s why she choose drum and immediately wants to learn how to play some songs. Drum already considered as a men’s images. She thought that if there’s a woman playing the drums, it would look very cool.

#Sejak TK, Rina sudah belajar piano, shuji (kaligrafi Jepang), berhitung, bahasa Inggris, renang dan senam.

Rina already learned piano, shuji (japanese calligraphy), math, English, swimming, and gymnastic since kindergarten.

#Kelas satu SMA, Rina membeli gitar murah yang dijual dengan beginner set yang sudah dilengkapi ampli.  

In her first grade of high school, Rina bought cheap guitar that sold with a beginner set equipped by an amplifier.

#Sudah banyak alat musik seperti keyboard dan gitar yang dimainkan Rina. Tapi, Rina memiliki kelemahan dalam mengoperasikan mesin, seperti komputer.

Rina has play various kind of music instrument, such as keyoboard and gitar. But, Rina has a weakness on operating machine, such as computer.

#Melihat-lihat papan efek adalah saat yang paling menyenangkan bagi Rina. Hobinya ialah mengutak-atik efek2 itu dan bermain-main dengannya.

To take a closer look on an effect board is a most enjoyable time for Rina. Her hobbies is to play and messing around with those effects.

#Okamoto’s adalah senior Rina semasa SMA. Saat itu drummernya yg bernama Reiji ikut program pertukaran pelajar. Dialah yang mengajarkan Rina mengenai Keith Moon (The Who). Sewaktu ada festival di sekolah, Okamoto’s pernah mengcover lagu Scandal sambil mengenakan seragam sekolah cewek.

Okamoto’s are Rina seniors while in high school. Their drummer, Reiji who took student exchange program, teach Rina about Keith Moon (The Who). On the school festival, they cover Scandal songs while wearing girls uniform.

#Rina-lah yang memainkan solo gitar yang noisy dari lagu ‘Koshi Tantan’. Rina memainkannya dengan liar sambil memainkan efek yang ada di studio.

#Pada tur yang digelar September 2010, Rina memainkan keyboard pada lagu ‘Shoujo M’. Malahan, baru-baru ini di tour Virgin Hall 2011, bukannya Mami, tapi Rina-lah yang menyanyikan lagu tersebut.

On the September 2010 tour, Rina play the keyboard on ‘Shoujo M’ song. Recently, on the Virgin Hall Tour 2011, she sang the ‘Shoujo M’ instead of Mami.

#Sebelum lulus SMA (tahun 2010), Rina mulai mencoba menulis lagu. Lagu pertama yang dibuatnya adalah ‘Emotion’. Februari 2011, single ‘Pride’ adalah lagu pertama yang menjadi andalan dimana yang menjadi penulisnya anggota band.

Before she graduate from high school on 2010, Rina began to wrote song. First song she compose is ‘Emotion’. February 2011, the ‘Pride’ single became the first coupling track wrote by the band member.

Awalnya Rina tidak punya drum sendiri, jadi ia kadang meminjam untuk dipakai saat live atau jika ada acara di televisi. Oleh karena itu ia kesulitan untuk menentukan waktu dan model drumnya. Saat akan tampil di jalanan Shiroten, hanya pedal dan snare drum saja yang ia beli sendiri.

On the beginning, she didn’t have her own drums. Sometimes, she borrowed it for live performance occasion or for television program show. Therefore, she had a difficulties to determine the time and model for the drums. When she perform on Shiroten street, she only bought herself a pedal and a drum snare.
