The Guitar Heroes!

After reviewed few of my favorite bassist, now it's time for my favorite guitarist..No rank was used on my review..They came from various music genre, but most of them is rock guitarist, one from blues, and one from jazz. They became my favorite cause they brought many breakthrough on their music, or on their instrument. Including also the skills, the original style, and the sounds that they brought on their guitars that made them my favorites. And the music composing skills they had, brought me into another realm, across the universe, and made me enjoying each note they plucked..Hope you enjoy it too!..v^_^..

#Dewa Budjana, (I Dewa Gede Budjana, born on August 30th, 1963 in Waikabubak, West Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia) is a Indonesian guitarist, founding member of Gigi, and nationally known as a jazz player. I’ve known him since he’s still a session guitarist, and later after he formed Gigi. The chromatic notes he played is his fine craft signature. His solo on Gigi is so different, compared to other guitarist. A short one but always great for me..And I like how his guitar sounds, it’s so soothing but when it goes on distortion, it didn’t came out roughly..a jazzy distortion, that’s what I called.

#Steve Vai, (Steven Siro Vai, born June 6th, 1960 in Carle Place, New York) is a virtuoso, a composer, a genius guitarist. The pioneer of 7-string guitars, then it became popular after Korn used it. Start his career along with Frank Zappa band’s, and was the member of Public Image Ltd., Alcatrazz, David Lee Roth and Whitesnake. He’s also a regular member of G3 Concert Tour since 1996. Sometimes, he invite his mate in David Lee Roth band, Billy Sheehan to perform with him on the stage.
When I first saw the performance of G3,  I prefer to see Steve Vai rather than others. Cause he always gave the chance the band member to went along with him on the melody part, or duet with him (well, thanks to the song itself). The band members he brought on the stage always gave me a new sensations,  for example, drummer  Mike Mangini, guitarist Mike Keneally, bassist Philip Bynoe,  Billy Sheehan, guitarist/pianist Tony MacAlpine, guitarist Dave Weiner, and Australian drummer Virgil Donati. Well, they’re known for their brilliant play on musical instrument.
The latest band he brought on “Sound Theories” world tour were Alex DePue (violin and keyboards), Ann Marie Calhoun (violin and keyboards), Bryan Beller (bass), Jeremy Colson (drums), Dave Weiner (guitar and sitar) and Zack Wiesinger (lap steel). He brought violin into his song, you may felt weird, how do violin goes into Vai’s song? But when u see them duet with Vai in stage, it’s just awesome..!!
Beside his shredding ability, he also manage to produce various sound from his guitar (that’s what I love from him..!). You could check him out on Fire Garden albums, in ‘When I Was A Little Boy’, or on Ultra Zone albums, in ‘The Blood & Tears’ (he imitate human voice with his guitars) and lots of others..

#John 5, (John William Lowery , born July 31st , 1971 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan). He was guitarist of Marilyn Manson, and currently guitarist for Rob Zombie. He also known for his country style guitars. At first I thought he was a country guitarist, cause I watched his Sugarfoot Rag video on youtube. But later, I found out that he’s one from two guitarist who used Telecaster in metal genre. The other one is Jim Root. His aggressive play, speed tapping, shredding, is outstanding, cause he did it on Telecaster, that rarely used by many metal guitarist (except Jim of course). Technically, he’s good!..He often collaborate with other guitarist such as Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Slash, Jim Root, Eric Johnson..He even cover GNR’s ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ on his ‘The Devil Knows My Name’ album..

#Slash, (Saul Hudson, born July 23rd, 1965 in Stoke-On-Trent, England). He was member of Guns N’ Roses, Slash’s Snakepit, and currently founder of Velvet Revolver. Recently he released two solo album featuring many artist from Ozzy Osbourne to Fergie of Black Eyed Peas.
He’s known a s a loyal user of Gibson Les Paul, that become his major axe on stage. Beside guitarist, he also composed many songs during GNR days, along with Axl Rose, Duff McKagan, Izzy Stradlin. His rejected material for GNR album after Spaghetti’s Incident, turned into Slash’s Snakepit first album.
He also appear as a guest musician for other artist, such as late Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, Bob Dylan, Derek Sherinian of Dream Theater,  and lots of others. I love him since Appetite for Destruction album, the rock riff he made is just what we need to made a rock song  loveable, and of course..rock the house!
His famous riff on Sweet Child O’Mine and Welcome To The Jungle would be the best rock riff ever!..I love how he put something in between his melody, what I called Slash-notes. A half notes, and I would say this definitely Slash solo when I heard those notes played..He’s my guitar heroes of all time!..

#Jimmy Page, (James Patrick Page, born January 9th, 1944 in in Heston, Middlesex, England). First Led Zeppelin songs I heard is Black Dog, a song with odd signature time (for me..hehe).  I always stuck with the guitar riff on that songs..lol.
And the most song that amazed me is Whole Lotta Love. When I heard sound of the guitar on the bridge..what the?! I didn’t thought on those years the guitars could sound like that..(due to limited effect available on that time). He made the guitar scream, moan, and howling..And apparently, he developed his method on how the sound of guitar was taken during recording sessions.
He became one of the most influential guitarist all the time. When I saw The Song Remains The Same video, he did play his guitar using violin bow..And I so amazed on how he improvised on Stairway To Heaven songs..(To be honest, at first I didn’t know Stairway To Heaven was their greatest hits ever..lol). And Jimmy Page is a great composer, his duet with Robert Plant produce many songs during Led Zeppelin days and afterward.

#B.B. King, (Riley B. King, born September 16th, 1925 in Itta Bena, Mississippi) is an American blues guitarist and singer-songwriter. I knew him long time ago, but recently I’m so absorbed into his music and played his songs all day long. I always love blues, and B.B. King was considered as one of the blues godfather. He’s a productive musician, from 1956 until now he has released around 60 records. I have to dig about him more! But, I already fall in love with ‘Hummingbird’, ‘I Like To Live The Love’, and ‘There Must Be A Better World Somewhere’.
